In 2017, Energise Ōtaki provided 18 bikes to be used by the students at St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School. The kids love them and are now using them to bike to places like the Ōtaki Swimming Pool for classes where they used to have to be driven.

Funding from the MBIE programme Curious Minds which encourages students to take up Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects helped establish various projects.

Between 2016 and 2019 a woodlot containing approx. 1200 willow and poplar trees was established at the far end of the College grounds. This was used to teach students about wood as an energy source.

Energise Ōtaki secured funding to build Sunrayker machines for the College to use as teaching tools. Each can trap up to 395°C from the sun, which students learn how to track, harness and store.

The programme involves Year 12 students exploring fossil fuels and their impacts and a practical initiative blending water and diesel for use in older diesel engines
