Ōtaki has one bus route. There is a view in the community that it is not well designed and that this has the effect of discouraging use. A 2014 project was to identify the best route and to have that change introduced by the Greater Wellington Regional Council.
Interested people from the community have identified an improved route and have provided that to the Greater Wellington Regional Council.
Meetings between the Ōtaki Community Board and Greater Wellington Regional Council have occurred in the last few months on this issue. The community awaits the regional council’s response.
