Update September 2019: You can still apply for curtains until November 2019, and if you have curtains to donate, we appreciate your support!

Donate your pre-loved curtains: All our curtains are donated by people like you. Each year more than 60 families in Ōtaki receive lined, fitted curtains free from the Curtain Bank in Wellington. We gratefully accept clean (no mould) curtains, fabric, tracks, and hooks.

We cannot take donations of blinds, curtain rods, or curved tracks.

You can drop your curtains at the Business Park
Unit 2, 31-33 Riverbank Rd, Otaki
Please phone 021 877 142 to advise about curtains.
You can leave curtains at door if nobody is there.

Got a Community Services Card? – ask us about free curtains to keep warm!

The Sustainability Trust Wellington in co-operation with Energise Ōtaki is back in town to provide free lined curtains for you main living and sleeping areas. The Curtain Bank upcycles donated curtains, cutting and lining them so they are ready for their new home.

Lined curtains, i.e. 2 layers of material, make them thermally efficient and are a good step towards a healthy home, reducing power bills. Together with insulation and draught stoppers around windows and doors this can prevent up to 60% of heat loss.

If you have a Community Services Card than you can either pick up your form now at the Citizens Advice Bureau, 65A Main Street Ōtaki or download the form. More information, application form and how to measure your windows correctly https://sustaintrust.org.nz/pages/free-curtains. Drop in your completed form to the Citizens Advice Bureau by 22 March, 2019.

The curtains will be back here in Ōtaki around middle of May, just in time for winter.
