The Kapiti Coast District Council has a LED street light replacement programme. Miro St, Otaki, has recently had new LED lights installed.
Ōtaki College – the chemistry of cleaner fuels
Otaki College and Blended Fuel Solutions have developed an Alternative Fuel Programme as part of the Year 12 Chemistry Accredited curriculum.
Ōtaki College – emulsion fuels, vans & lawn mower
The Otaki College diesel vans and its lawnmower are now running on cleaner blended fuel. The local bus company also joined the blended fuel trial.
Solar panels at the Ōtaki Library
In 2011 the Council and Electra installed a 2.0 kilowatt-peak solar photovoltaic system on the Ōtaki Library and Memorial Hall as a demonstration project.
